Supahandy subcontracts one two bedroom Gyprock granny flat project of builder Diverse Civil Construction. As this granny flat gyprock installer, we finished the gyprock part very quickly, and also worked as carpenter to install doors, architrave, handles, and skirting board under builder guide. As one experienced granny flat gyprock installer, in this blog, we share our jobs’ photos, and some common issues’ solution as well.
We have to say thanks very much for our builder, Diverse Civil Construction, which has teaches us the carpentry skills, and graciously awarded us a 5-Star rating for the accept quality of our finished carpentry work.
Our scope of work included:
- Installation of ceiling and wall insulation
- Fitting of ceiling and wall plasterboard
- Installation of 75mm three-step cornice
- Installation of 67mm x 18mm primed pine square edge skirting board
- Installation of square edge window architrave
- Installation of 450mm steel accessible panel (setting finish)
- Installation of doors, door jambs, trim, locks, handles, and door stops
Same to all other projects, we actually fixed all different and unexpected issues, like following details:
- There is not enough R4 Earthwool insulation available in around suppler shop, and we replace by some CSR Bradford insulation at last.
- Heavy front solid timber glass door do need two labours to cooperate in best to install.
- Plane some some windows reveal so to level to plasterboard wall. Or thinner section the window trim panel (taught by builder) so the window trim can be installed on wall and reveal tightly.
- Use extra packer to seal big gap and longer size to fix door jamb on interior door frame.
- Custom storage door and jamb so as to match and install on the frame.
- Need extra carefulness on black matt colour door handles when installation.
Roughly we used one week to finish all above jobs.
We thank our builder partner, Mr. Jamie, for his extensive carpentry knowledge shared throughout the project.
