Fastening Systems-Plasterboard Fixing

At first, plasterboard should be fixed to framing using one of the following fastening systems:

– Combination of adhesive and fasteners；

– Screw fixed only；

– Nail fixed only.

NOTES:

  1. For general applications, the preferred method is to use a combination of adhesive and fasteners.
  2. However, on high shrinkage timbers, it is always necessary to use the combination adhesive and fastener system.
  3. Additionally, for walls that will be tiled or may hold surface-mounted items like mirrors, it is advisable to opt for a fastener-only system — adhesive should be avoided in these cases.
  4. Furthermore, a fastener-only system is essential for fixing FIBEROCK linings.
  5. It is important to note that stud adhesive alone does not serve as a fixing system; it must be used in conjunction with screws or nails.
  6. Finally, do not fix plasterboard linings until after the ridge capping and gable ends are installed to ensure proper sequencing of construction activities.

*Minimum Screw Lengths (mm) For ceilings fixed directly to timber framing, it is essential to use at least 30mm W screws.

#Utilizing shorter screws may increase the risk of them popping out. Furthermore, to accommodate construction with framing steel gauges of less than 0.8mm BMT, it is necessary to use a minimum screw length of 30mm.

In multi-layered systems, the first layer should be fixed with single-layer fastener details.

All fasteners should be driven home with the head slightly below the surface of the sheet, yet without piercing through the face linerboard. Additionally, it is crucial to exercise care to prevent any damage to the face or core of the plasterboard.

Adhesive daubs and fasteners must always be 200mm minimum apart.

Gyprock Acrylic Stud Adhesive – Gyprock丙烯酸螺柱粘合剂

Gyprock Acrylic Stud Adhesive stands out due to its distinctive blue color. Moreover, it is ideal for use on timber or steel framing, provided the temperature is above 5ºC. Additionally, the adhesive boasts low toxicity and does not constitute a fire risk when applied in confined areas. It is designed to be compatible with pre-painted metal battens and certain treated timbers. Always remember to adhere to the instructions provided on the packaging.

Before application, it is crucial that contact surfaces be free of oil, grease, or any other foreign materials.

Subsequently, the adhesive should be applied using a broad knife to create 25mm diameter by 15mm high walnuts.

用宽刀涂抹粘合剂，抹成25mm直径为15mm高的胡桃状。

Warning

  1. Do not use stud adhesive in TILED WET AREA systems.
  2. Moreover, it is crucial that adhesive daubs should never align with fastener points.
  3. Stud adhesive, on its own, does not suffice as a fixing system; it must always be used in combination with nail or screw fasteners.
  4. Furthermore, do not rely on stud adhesive in FIRE RATED systems, as it does not meet the necessary safety standards.

For bonding Gyprock plasterboards to concrete and all masonry substrates, use Gyprock Masonry Adhesive.
